Orbital forcing of sedimentary systems through Earth history

Christian Zeeden's seminar, 2019

Abstract

Orbital forcing has influenced the climate throughout Earth history. In this presentation examples from the Proterozoic to the Quaternary will be given and peculiarities of different geoarchives and different time intervals will be discussed.
Highlight will be discussing specific challenges of linking sedimentary geoarchives to orbital forcing. These challenges include finding suitable geoarchives in deep-time, and fitting patterns between geology and astronomical models in the Cenozoic.
