Topic: A critical study of age contraints on metamorphism in convergence zones: from burial to exhumation

The aim of this work is to combine petrological, geochronological and geochemical analyses on eclogites from Norway (Western Gneiss Region) in order to constrain the evolution of pressure-temperature conditions over time (P–T–t paths) and test the robustness of the commonly accepted links between metamorphic and geochronologic data. The dating of metamorphic events is paramount for the comprehension of tectonic processes during orogeny.

Methods and tools: thermodynamic modelling of phase equilibria (Theriak-Domino, THERMOCALC), multi-methods dating (U/Pb on zircon, titanite, apatite, rutile... Sm/Nd and Lu/Hf on garnet), thermobarometry on trace elements, REE equilibria between metamorphic and dated minerals
